Established in 1974 with the purchase of Oikos Melody, UD, Can. CD, Champion producer. Melody came from hunting stock of a pedigree that performed well in the Obedience and the Conformation rings as well as working in the field. Melody, her son Can, and many of her grandchildren enjoyed their field work.

Now 30+ years later, we are working with 10 generations of home-raised dogs which have been selectively bred to conform to the AKC Breed Standard. Since our beginning we have been continuously improving our poodles in confirmation, worked to keep our proper poodle temperament, and have bred only from dogs which have met all possible health testing. It is the goal of Degana Poodles to produce Poodles with healthy minds and bodies.

All of Degana’s 30+ Breed Champions and countless Obedience & Tracking Titled pups were born in our bedroom. They are continually socialized practically housebroke before they are ready to go to their new homes (never before 8 weeks of age). The puppies are weaned on high quality puppy food and goat milk. They are bathed and trimmed several times by 9 weeks to get them off to a good start for all their grooming needs. They receive a health check, fecal check, and all necessary inoculations before they leave. All of our puppies are sold with a spay/neuter agreement and with a health guarantee up to 24 months of age against hereditary crippling diseases. Copies of the parents’ health testing, pedigree, and health check are given to the new owners of a Degana puppy. 7-generations of health testing is also available.

Looking in the new Millennium, we carry on the Degana family traditions of confirmation, brains temperament, and health with the children and grandchildren of Amer. Can. Ch. Degana Cole Porter, the Great Great Great Grandson of Okios Melody. Cole Porter exemplifies breed type, temperament, and health. He is already the sire of over 50 champions, several with obedience and tracking titles, at 11 years of age. Each litter is bred by reservation only; Degana Poodles are never advertised in newspapers or available through 2nd parties.
